Summer comes to a close
Back to school is no longer a after Labor day affair. The big one's last day of summer "school" ended on August 6th when that school started back to real school. After spending 2 weeks at daycare with the little kids, including her sister, she started the 2nd grade on the 24th. We are one of 2 school districts starting so late this year. What happened to the 104 days of summer vacation? Oh and another big event happened too... we have a loose front upper tooth.

A new bunny hutch
My Mother's Day Square foot garden took a beating on the Fourth and then 100 degree heat the following weekend while we camped with Grandma and Grandpa. But the last straw was the mommy bunny using our garden for her babies. Once the girls saw the babies there was no destruction except to the garden.

Fairy Tale time at the Castle
Yes, flip flops are authorized princess footwear.
miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles
princesses using binoculars to see cattle and elk
every castle needs to have a knight, little miss called it a soldier (she is a first grader so she knows)
M has had Friday and Monday as a long weekend vacation. (School gave 2 extra days in the schedule back to the kids this weekend) M certainly needed it... she is ready for summer vacation. So today we signed up for Fairytale story time at the Cherokee Ranch Castle. The history is VERY interesting (http://www.cherokeeranch.org/history.htm) It is still a working ranch with over 1000 acres that are guaranteed to not be developed.
So the girls dressed up their princess finery and then when Daddy brought back the keys to the car that he accidentally took to work, off we went. And Wow! We saw a wild turkey and a deer on the 2 mile dirt road up up up to the "princess'" castle (that is what B called it). Very spectacular view and fun time for the kids.

Snow??? REALLY?
After a wonderfully warm week and the tantalizing hints of spring today it is snowing. Actually it is what we called flurries in Ohio. It is just cold and blowing and dusty in the air. Barely made the road wet. It did however wet down the beautiful sidewalk art that was created yesterday by the girls. M had a chance to ride her bike around the block. Hopefully she will be able to lose the training wheels this year. And maybe B can catch on the the a- "Round" part of the pedals not just back and forth with her feet.
